Is Chicken Safe to Eat?
You may have seen the MSN headline:
'Finally! The FDA Admits That Nearly Over 70% of U.S. Chickens Contain Cancer-Causing Arsenic'
Stories to follow suggested 70% of all chickens sold in the USA were carcinogenic. I'd like to make clear that 70% of the 100 chickens tested contained traces of arsenic. Chicken as a species is not carcinogenic.
Though the FDA withdrew it's approval of the drug it went onto say "the amount (of arsenic) is too tiny to be dangerous to people who eat it."

I've ALWAYS been able to trust the FDA's word, especially after their approval of Monsanto's genetically engineered cattle drug rBGH (in 1994), which coincidentally was denied in both Europe and Canada.
When Michael R. Taylor (FDA's deputy commissioner for policy) wrote the labelling laws, he specified there can be no distinctions between products produced with rBGH and products that were not. Dairy corporations were legally prohibited from making any distinctions whatsoever, to avoid any stigmas in the market place.
That same attorney who wrote those guidelines (Michael R. Taylor) spent seven years working as a Monsanto corporation attorney prior to becoming commissioner for policy at Monsanto.
What did Michael do as an attorney? He worked to help Monsanto find angles they could use to legally pursue corporations who had violated their labeling guidelines.

Margaret Miller - former Monsanto research scientist
Suzanne Sechen - conducted Monsanto-funded rBGH studies in grad-school.
Suzanne's professor was also a Monsanto consultant.
US Government shutdown over "Obama Care," yet there was no Government shut down upon the passing of the the "Monsanto Protection Act."
What is the "Monsanto Protection Act?" It is a law that forbids federal courts from halting the sale of any Monsanto produced GMO's, despite health issues that may occur as a result of the genetic modification.
The National Chicken Council (whom I'd never heard of until now) says the drug was used in "many but not all" broiler chickens. They concluded that "Chicken is safe to eat," in the USA.
SIDE NOTE: If the USA cut it's chicken consumption in half right now, the "National Chicken Council" would be reduced to a website and a booth at the annual Chicken Festival in Fair Oaks Village, California.
What does the FDA have to say?
"FDA announced that Alpharma, a subsidiary of Pfizer Inc, will voluntarily suspend sale of the animal drug 3-Nitro® (Roxarsone) in response to a new FDA study of 100 broiler chickens that detected inorganic arsenic, a known carcinogen, at higher levels in the livers of chickens treated with the drug 3-Nitro® (Roxarsone) than in untreated chickens. FDA officials stress that the levels of inorganic arsenic detected were very low and that continuing to eat chicken as 3-Nitro® is suspended from the market does not pose a health risk."
